School Garden and the Prince's Trust

You may have noticed the tidy new gardens at the front of the school this week. During half term the Penge branch of the Prince's Trust came and weeded, planted, painted and organised the picnic space and gardens outside the main Junior building for their Community Project. A member of the branch was a former pupil, and they also chose Stillness because of the devastating fire. They raised the funds for the project themselves by holding a cake sale, and by packing shopping bags in Marks & Spencer's stores. We now have brightly painted benches and planters, lots of new seeds, and a lovely bird table! Thank you to everyone involved, and to the Prince's Trust for their hard work and generosity.

Cake Sale!

A big thank you to everyone who made, bought or ate cakes at last Thursday's cake sale. Although it was terribly windy, and we had to tie everything down it was great fun and a real success. We raised £64.00. As the weather improves we are hoping to have one every month.

Honor Oak Recreation Ground under threat!

Hello everyone,

You may already know that the recreation ground at Honor Oak Park is under threat. Southwark council wish to use the space to extend the burial ground. The campaign to save it is gathering momentum and you can find out all about it here...

There is also an online petition here... The target is for 1,500 signatures.

SCA will have paper copies of the petition to sign on our refreshments table at the school's Curriculum Mornings from 21st - 24th March.

The Future is LOCAL

What we want:
  • Let Southwark know how important this local space is to 'living locals' both Lewisham and Southwark residents, you can email Southwark councillors/Cabinet Member Barrie Hargrove about how you feel
  • We hope to update our blog with information from local people who use this space. For example this morning around 80 children were using it for their weekly football practice
  • If you use the Rec space let us know how you use it
  • Email your local ward Councillor
  • Apply for funding to make this a better space, e.g., outdoor gym similar to Peckham rye and Dulwich park
  • More landscaping
  • Improvements to the children's playground to make it a more attractive vibrant fun space to be in

Help us protect our green space!
